Thank you for visiting  Houndshack Kennels. Whether you our looking for a hunting dog, a quality show dog, or just simply a friendly companion, we hope to provide you with a strong, healthy redbone that will be at your side for years to come!  We hope that you will find our website helpful as you search for that perfect puppy and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have along the way.

ABOUT OUR KENNEL

We are small time breeders located in central Ohio.  Our redbones are bred from a lengthy pedigree of champions. They are Purple Ribbon UKC registered pups and will make great hunting and show dogs along with excellent pets. Our goal is to provide you with a  happy, healthy puppy that will be your long-time companion.  It will come to you with a UKC registration application, a bill of health, and a health guarantee which is listed below. All our puppies will have been examined by our veterinarian, have had their first shots, and are on a deworming schedule.

Worming and shot schedule

Puppies need a series of vaccinations  beginning at 6 weeks of age and continuing every 3 to 4 weeks for a total of three series.  A regular worming schedule is also important for proper care and growth of puppies.  Our  puppies are on a schedule for worming starting at 3 weeks of age and  continuing every 2 to 3 weeks. Your veterinarian will schedule your puppy for its one year booster.

Rabies vaccinations are due by the time the puppy is 3 to 6 months of age.  Check with your veterinarian for local laws.

Puppy nutrition

Nutrition is very important.  A good, premium dog food assures you a healthy puppy and helps the puppy to have strong bones and teeth and also promotes good body growth.  We feed Purina Puppy Chow and recommend this to the new owners of our puppies.

Health Guarantee

This certificate guarantees that the puppy you purchase is free of any congenital life-threatening health defect that will prevent the animal from becoming a good pet. The buyers responsibility is to have the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of the purchase date listed below. The veterinarian will thoroughly examine the puppy, and if the puppy is diagnosed at that time with any congenital life-threatening disease, the health guarantee will take effect. If the buyer does not wish to seek the care of a licensed veterinarian in the time period listed above, he voids the health guarantee. If the puppy is diagnosed with such a congenital life-threatening health defect, said buyer may choose to either return the dog with the registration papers and a signed affidavit by a licensed veterinarian for a full refund of the purchase price of the dog, or he may choose to keep the dog and upon confirmation by signed affidavit from a licensed veterinarian half of the purchase price will be refunded to him.

The following are not considered life threatening: undecided testicle; under bite or overbite; entropion or cherry eye; common, treatable intestinal parasites.

The limit of my liability will be the purchase price of the puppy in return for the puppy. I will not pay any veterinarian bills; nor will I pay or refund any transportation fees.

Puppy Stress

You need to be aware that a puppy is a baby and that sometimes babies may get sick due to stress or other related reasons. It is leaving our home and entering a new environment and stress related sicknesses may occur.  We will send home with your new puppy a bag of its own food. Please feed this the first few days to make the transitional period easier on it.
